Wha?

Today is Friday???

I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday.

Stressing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? My mother-in-law is driving down from Colorado tomorrow for the weekend.

Shit. I have so much cleaning to do tonight.

Monday, April 19, 2010

It's 9:30 P.M.

and I should be getting ready for bed.

But what am I doing? Listening to Billy Idol and painting my kitchen.

Well, painting with primer and not the whole kitchen, just where the stove is going tomorrow.

The old stove got taken out and I almost threw up when I saw what kind of yuck I was dealing with. There was so much gross under the stove it was embarrassing. I was hunkered down with my teeny broom and dustpan sweeping up the dog food when I noticed the mouse poop. Barf. We haven't fed the dogs in the kitchen in over a year so I have convinced myself that the poo was from then. The floor got bleached and then I scrubbed it with 409 and a toothbrush. My floors are now cleaner than they were when the tile was installed.

And the walls. OMG the walls were just as nasty. The areas I can reach are clean but behind the stove is another story. It was so bad that after scrubbing with 1)Vinegar, 2) 409 and then 3) a Mr Clean Magic Eraser, it still looked horrible. Some spots I had scrubbed the paint off and other spots were stained.

So I decided to primer it. It should be dry now.

Off to put a 2nd coat on the walls and find a mouse trap. Just. In. Case.

I Broke It

So...............I broke my oven.

*snort*

Ok, everybody show me your surprised face!

The last time I used it, I baked a cake. When I tried to use it Thursday night, it wouldn't work. The pilot light comes on but the gas can't get to the flame.

Friday night, I kept turning the knob and listening for the gas to hiss but nothing. Plus I kicked it a couple of times, just in case kicking something that was broken would magically make it work again.

Saturday was crazy busy with T-ball opening day crap so I didn't even think about the oven.

Sunday I was craving Baked Mac & Cheese so I broke down and called my dad. He came by, got his old ass on the floor, opened up the little oven thing on the bottom and said......"The gas isn't getting to your pilot light."

No shit dad! That is what I told you over the phone. LoL

He says that it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new stove since there isn't anyone here in town that we know of that fixes appliances.

Today, my parents met me at the furniture store and I picked out a new stove. I told the store owner to put it on Hubbs' account but my parents insisted on paying for it.

My old stove was at least 7 years old but probably closer to 15. We got it used from a family friends estate sale. It was plain and hillbilly. There were only 3 knobs on it when we got it, 2 burners and the oven knob. We ended up losing 1 of the burner knobs years ago. Plus the back two burners didn't work. It was defiantly time for something new.

My new stove has a self cleaning oven, a timer and a clock, plus a simmer burner. The self cleaning oven and the simmer burner are tied as to which feature I am most excited about. Oh, and it is white! Not off white and black like the old one or avocado green like what was in there when we moved in.

How lame am I to be SO excited over such a simple stove? I really can't wait for it to be installed tomorrow because I am TIRED of the microwave and the crockpot.

The bad thing is that as soon as the old stove is moved out tonight, I get to start scrubbing the walls and floors to get all the yuck off. I had other plans for tonight: sitting on my ass in front of the T.V. But at least it is something that I can cross off my spring cleaning list.

Cleaning Fool

I have been a cleaning fool for the past 2 weeks.

It is like that crazy nesting phase I got while I was pregnant.

I let the housework go completely in between camping trips and the disaster I fondly think of as my home was finally starting to get to me. Plus with the MIL planning on visiting next week, I was starting to go a little psycho.

Oh yes, I said next week. What happened to her being here while I am on vacation in 2 weeks? She just decided to change her plans last night. Ummmm, that is too bad MIL. I can NOT change my vacation time with this little of notice. So Hubbs can entertain her while I relax at work.

Anyway, back to cleaning talk.

I started with the office/playroom. I had gone through the boys toys a long time ago. The boys got to keep some, a lot went into the trash, some went to my mom for my nephew, but the majority went into the living room to be given to Step MIL for her CPS kids.

FIL came by to see our "new to us" truck yesterday so I put all the toys that were still sitting in my living room into the back of his Tahoe while he was playing with the boys.

Yay, I have my living room back again!

After FIL left, MIL called to tell us that she was changing her plans.

Huh? Dude! What the hell?

So I took my frustrations out on the bathroom.

You all already know that I am a stockpiler, right? Well, if you didn't, surprise! Please don't think I am like those hoarders you see on Intervention or some other TLC show. I (try to) only keep things we are going to use. Unless it is free, then I give it away to someone who can use it or it gets shelved until I have a yard sale.

What can I say, I love all things coupon! Especially if it smells good because with all these boys in my household, things can start to smell like ass, quickly.

My problem is, I can't keep things organized between stockpile shopping trips, which used to be every weekend. So my bathroom was stuffed full of stuff. I pulled everything out of the cabinets, out of the drawers and off the shelves. That all went in the hall. I grabbed a box and started filling it with the crap like body spray, body glitter, mousse, gel, hairspray, volumizer, gloss oil, sculpting wax, teeny tiny hair clippies, expensive shampoos and conditioners. All the junk that I was never going to use went into that box and set in the bedroom for the yard sale.

I just realized that I could have supplied a strip club for a year with all that stuff. Aaahhhh, the pre-children days.

After all the junk was gone, I organized all the stuff I was keeping.

It looks like a store in my bathroom. All the shampoos, conditioners, bubble bath, buddy bars, band-aids, body wash, and everything else body related are put away in their own rows. The kitchen cleaners, the bathroom cleaners, the Pine-Sol, carpet shampoo, mildew remover, oven cleaner, CLR, Magic Erasers and everything else cleaning related are put away in rows too!

I even got all of my smell good stuff under control. The Glade candles, the refills, the Air-wicks, their refills, the Plug-Ins, their refills, the Renew-zits, Febreeze and all that stuff are all organized in drawers.

My biggest accomplishment was getting space for bath towels. Bath towels are my Achilles Heel! I am really picky about towels. I can't dry off my body with something that might have touched somebody else's ass. I just can't do it.

So everybody gets a new towel, every time they bathe. And I only do laundry once a week. 4 people x 7 days x 1 or 2 bath/showers a day=a TON of bath towels. And washcloths, and hand towels.

Usually, after I do a load of laundry it all goes into the laundry pile until someone needs something to wear/dry off with. Whatever was needed gets removed from the laundry pile. Nothing ever gets put away. If I am feeling super motivated, the clean stuff might end up in their designated laundry basket. Kids clothes are supposed to go in one basket, Hubbs socks get their own basket, grown up pajamas, thongs, boxers and my socks go in another basket, and towels get the biggest basket.

Tonight I am going to not only sort all the towels, I am going to fold them and put them away in their new home, under the sink. For the first time in almost 7 years, I finally have the room to put the towels IN THE BATHROOM, where they belong.

That, in itself, will be one of my greatest accomplishments.

If I end up finished with the towels with enough time before the season premiere of House, I might start on the pantry.

The hall is pretty clean.

The kitchen is good, except for the floor needing to be mopped and the walls around the stove wiped down or repainted. I try to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible. It makes my head hurt. Hubbs will have to deal with that room.

The living room is passable, except for the carpet smells like dirty feet. But the steam cleaner can be ran on Saturday or Sunday before nap time.

You would think with my anal retentiveness and my OCD issues, my house would be cleaner than it is.

Barf

Monk Man has been throwing up since he woke up this morning.

On the half hour, every half hour.

Uuuuhhhhhhhhhgggggggg.

Poor little dude. He is so pasty white.

Hubbs finally got dressed and bought some Sprite around 2 and it seems to have helped Monk Man's tummy enough to be able to crash in the recliner. But now Bobblehead is pissed because he can't share Monk Man's soda with him.

I have to get the bathroom bleached and the living room carpet shampoo'd this afternoon.

Oh Goody.

Red Bull Friday

Will there be one today?

Maybe, maybe not.

I'm not really feeling the whole "clean frantically all weekend while hopped up on legal speed" thing today. Plus my mom forgot to pick me up that case of Red Bulls while she was at Sam's Club yesterday. The same case of Red Bulls I have been reminding her of since Thanksgiving dinner last Friday.

Uuuhhhhhhhggggggggg. But there is so much I need to get done. LoL Just like always.

Update on Mixing it Up and Red Bull Friday

My freezer was delivered this morning. Yay. Its still empty since I grocery on Saturday mornings. Plus I still have to figure out what I am going to keep in the fridge freezer and what I am going to put in the chest freezer.

I left work at around 3 yesterday. I went straight home to get started on the crazy mess. First, I cleaned out the used-to-be-play room. Hubbs took apart Monk Man's bed and took it out of the room sometime yesterday morning so I had a lot of room to clean in. I started on the toys first. And oh my hell were there toys. I dumped them all out on the floor into a pile and set out boxes. 1 box for stuffed animals and 3 for the others. I filled those all up, took 2 bags of broken and Crappy Meal toys out to the trash, AND I took a bag of baby toys to my moms for Ollie.

It only took about an hour and a half to completely empty the used-to-be-play room. Well, the clothes are still in it but I will get to those this weekend.

My living room was packed with boxes of crap. Sorry, no pictures. I was going to take them but Hubbs cleaned off the computer desk and lost my camera.

Then FedEx showed up with Hubb's computer. A day early. I was in the middle of running the vacuum and the driver was lucky my dogs think they are tough otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed.

Hubbs was at Wal-mart getting storage boxes for this weekend's divide and conquer.

When he got home and saw the boxes, all hopes of getting any real work out of him were gone. And so were my hopes of getting all of this done uninterrupted.

But he did manage to help in between trying to get it set up and all the programs loaded.

After the used-to-be-playroom was empty and clean, I moved on to the used-to-be-pantry. I had to put on my MP3 player so I couldn't claim not to hear Hubbs yelling, "Honey! Come here! Where does this plug in?" and "Honey! Come here! Look at this!".

I unloaded the food into laundry baskets and in piles on the floor so Hubbs could move the book cases into the now-a-pantry. Then all the laundry baskets got pushed into the now-a-pantry and emptied. Eventually all the food and stuff was in the now-a-pantry and put back.

By then it was time to pick up the boys. It was an interesting rest of the night. Bobblehead and Monk Man wanted to help. Ugh. Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the attempt, but at 3 and 1, they didn't really help until it came time to put their crap in the empty now-a-play room.

I think I made myself quit around 10, 10:30. But it was around midnight when I finally fell asleep. I think.

Tonight, I still have to go through my artsy-fartsy-craft stuff and put it all away in the now-a-pantry. And move all the clothes from the now-a-pantry into the now-a-playroom.

So that's whats in store for this week's edition of Red Bull Friday.

Clothes. Moving them. Washing them. Putting them away. Maybe. We did rent a bunch of movies on Wednesday.......

Red Bull Friday Update

I got more accomplished this weekend than I expected to get done.

**yay**

But it is making me feel a little manic. Oh well. It will pass I'm sure.

I will get to what I accomplished in a minute. First I have to share something. Hubbs and I are going to look at a new house tonight. I am a little scared to own a real house. I was looking forward to having the whole next year to ease myself into this whole idea.

About the house and neighborhood:
The house is 3 bedrooms, 2 bath and on a supersized lot. Its like a lot and 3/4. The house was gutted and completely remodeled. New Berber carpet, updated appliances, everything is new except the bath tub. FIL lives across the street and around the corner. It is half a block from an elementary school, 4 or so blocks to the Jr. High and 5 or 6 blocks from the High School. I am pretty sure Hubbs said that the seller is asking $100k.

Keep your fingers crossed for us that 1)I like the house and 2) we are able to get a loan or convince the owner to carry the papers for us.

Now on to all the stuff I got accomplished:
1) I got LOTS of cleaning done. The laundry even got put away.

2) I made Christmas Crack, Hot Cocoa Mix, and Sugar Cookies. Everything turned out delicious. I brought a Tupperware bowl full of Christmas Crack into the shop today and everybody said that it was awesome!

3) I went grocery shopping. Took Bobblehead with me because Monk Man wouldn't get up from his nap with Hubbs.

4) I wrapped 15 presents. That's about half of what I needed to get wrapped but there are still a few more weekends.

AND, I started a new blog. I need to get all of our shit organized, even more so that there is the slim chance we are getting a house. I need to get our finances under control and I really just want to get my shit together. So I made an all new blog for organization and control. I will post the address as soon as I have an entry up. I am kinda slacking on it already. Whoops

No Red Bull Friday?

There was no Red Bull Friday this week. I have been fighting a killer sinus infection for a week now.

I went to the doctor Thursday because the sinus infection just wasn't going away on its own. Ohhhh the pain was horrible. The whole left side of my face was swollen, my throat was on fire, my jaw ached and my teeth were throbbing. I was given a prescription for a Z-Pack and sent back to work. At this point, I was popping Advil like they were candy and it was barely taking the edge off the pain. On Friday I had had enough and called the doctor to get a prescription for pain pills.

He gave me Darvocet. They took 5 hours and 4 pills to kick in.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that I am allergic to them because I spent all day yesterday (Saturday) with my freaking head in the toilet. I was fine as long as I was laying on the floor, not moving. But when there are 2 dogs, a 3 1/2 year old and an 11 month old demanding my attention, laying still on the floor is just a fantasy.

After the first hour of puking I did call my sister to see if she would come get Monk Man for a few hours so I could lay down when Bobblehead was napping.

When I got up, I took half of a pain pill with a huge glass of milk because maybe taking them on an empty stomach wasn't the greatest idea. Well, the milk didn't do any good because as soon as I swallowed the pill I had to run to the toilet again for another hour.

I am back taking Advil. The pain is noticeably less than it was 2 days ago so maybe I will be able to function today.

This week only: Red Bull Friday is on Sunday

Here is the to-do list:
1) Dishes.
I may have not been able to eat but the kids still had to. I have about 4 days worth of dishes sitting in the sink and on the counter. Gross. I hate to have to admit that one.
2) Laundry.
I need to wash about a weeks worth and put away about 3 weeks worth of clothes.
3) Spot Clean the Carpet.
Momma is Sick?=Eat wherever you want.

I am not feeling too ambitious today and I don't want to over do it so I only have 3 things today. As usual, I will update tonight or tomorrow at work on what actually got done.

Off to turn on the cartoons to keep the boys occupied for a while so I can clean! Now where did my MP3 player go?

Friday, September 12, 2008

I just realized

it is RED BULL FRIDAY again.

Hooray.

So whats in store for tonight?

Well, I need to tear apart the living room so I can find a Wii game we rented last Friday. The only answer I get out of Monk Man as to where it is is "What Wii game? I wanna play the Wii!"

With Hubbs home last week, a lot of beer got spilled (how many times do I have to say, "Don't put your beer on the floor when the kids are up"?) so I need to clean the carpets. Again. Maybe I will use soap this time since there seems to be more spots showing up since the last time I cleaned it.

And then of course, there is always the book that needs to be worked on. And Christmas presents to be sewn (blankets) or cut and glued (scrapbook crap and note cards).

Maybe I will make the boys stay up with me tonight so I can sleep in tomorrow...... Fat chance but it is worth a shot.

Gross! I just looked over my shoulder and the kitchen looks like it needs to be mopped too. I wonder what I can bribe Monk Man with get him to mop the kitchen.

Red Bull Fridays

Yummy. Red Bull.

I used to be addicted to this stuff, back when I was working as a truck stop waitress on the graveyard shift. (Sounds like a Country song, sorry) I would drink coffee and Red Bulls (the large size) all night long and then go home, play with Monk Man for an hour and then go to bed.

I cut back on drinking them when I found out I was pregnant with Bobblehead. I went from maybe 4 a night to 2 or 3 small ones a week. Eventually I cut that down to 1 a week.

Then Bobblehead was born and I was back to drinking one every day. After about 3 months, they quit working.

Now I only allow myself 1 Red Bull a week. Only on Fridays.

Sometimes, if I have to make a long drive like 3 hours to the Valley or 8 hours to Grammy's in Colorado, I will drink one during the drive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why only on Fridays?
Fridays are usually when I get to stay up past 9 p.m. since I don't have to be up at 6 a.m. to get ready for work.
Sometimes I stay up and watch T.V. or play the Playstation2, other times I clean, take a bath, or just dink around on the computer. Some things are just easier to do without little boys crawling all over me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So what is in store for this Red Bull Friday?

I am borrowing my carpet shampooer (yes you read that right) from my FIL. The carpets are starting to smell like feet and formula. I cant stand it anymore.

So as soon as the boys are in bed, the carpets will be cleaned for the first time since it was installed (or laid, whatever) last September. Gross.

Nesting Update

Naaawww. I didn't even come close to getting all that done.

I did get all my laundry washed and dried. But not put away. That's the part I hate the most.

That's it. I know, horrible. Oh! And I did all the dishes.

But.....One of the guys I work with is a big gardener. He got a new-to-him composter thing that spins so he brought his old bins to me for my compost.

I am sooooo freaking excited. I can now move my compost pile into round bins. I meant to take pictures this morning but I got distracted by the kids. I promise I will get some pics tomorrow, just in case anyone is as excited (or even close to it) as I am.

I have to go to Walmart today after I get off work because I have coupons that are going to expire in the next couple of days. So maybe I will pick up some shelves while I am there.

Nesting

I have this overwhelming urge to nest. Like the crazy, whole body consuming type of nesting I did when I was pregnant.

This is what I want to do:

I want to make a trip to Walmart and buy a couple of new bookshelves for the books and Playstation games.

I want to *gasp* do laundry.

I want to re-organize my pantry and throw everything expired in the compost pile.

I want my fabric that I bought from ebay to show up so I can start making the blankets for the boys.

I want to mop.

I want to shampoo my carpets.

I want to hang more pictures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I NEVER want to clean. Never. I would rather be outside in the garden than be stuck in the house doing "domestic stuff". That being said, my house is never dirty, just messy/cluttered. But who has time to have a spotless house with 2 kids, 2 dogs and a mean Internet addiction?
My mom, that's who. But she is only addicted to Soap Operas and has 3 grown children that still live at home and know how to clean up after themselves.
Today, I want to send the kids to Nonnies so I can turn up the Nine Inch Nails and have all day to clean.
Last weekend I about went crazy cleaning the bathroom. It is still all sparkly and clean smelling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I am off to find a cd, get the kids occupied with the TV and clean like a pregnant chick. I hope you all have a good weekend. I will post my progress on Sunday night or Monday. If the cleaning fumes don't kill me.
