Stressing Out

Bobblehead is having dental surgery in a few hours, so here I am, at the butt crack of dawn and I am stressed out. He is only 2 and already has 3 cavities. We brush every morning and every night before bed and they still have cavities. Monk Man's teeth are worse.

Our pediatric dentist says that they just have soft teeth but I still feel like shit about it. My stupid mommy guilt makes me feel like there should have been something I could do to prevent it.

So he has his appointment at 9 but we have to be there early at 7:30 for paperwork and other stuff. That means I have to leave town at 6:30 to get there on time. The procedure is scheduled for 2 hours and then observation for however long it takes for him to wake up. Then that horrible hour drive home.

And somehow I have to figure out a time to go to the town on the other side of us to get Monk Man's birth certificate today too. Kindergarten sign ups are Wednesday and he needs an actual birth certificate. We only have a certificate of live birth and they won't accept that. I don't get it at all. It was good enough to get on State assistance but not good enough to get into school. Stupid but whatever.

Ugh. This is going to be one long ass day. Keep us in your thoughts today!

Hi!

I am still here! Hubbs got home from Iowa on Saturday morning and between him and work, I haven't had much computer time.

Ummmm, whats happened the past week......

We went to the woods on Sunday for the Elk's Club Chili Cookoff. I think next year we will try the whole camping with kids thing. Maybe. It rained for about half the day but Monk Man loved it until I made him take a nap in the car because he was getting cranky as hell. Bobblehead couldn't have cared less about being out there.

We took my family out for dinner at the Outback on Monday. All of em. How many is all? Well, there was me, the 2 kids, Hubbs, my brother, 2 sisters, Ollie, my Kookie Cousin and her 2 kids, my Grandma I, and Spanky and Nonnie. I grabbed the bill before Spanky (my dad) noticed it on the table. Ouch, it was almost $300. But we had it in the checking account so we didn't charge it plus my parents have treated us to so many dinners, it is only fair that we pick up the tab once a year. At least that's how I am justifying it.

After dinner we headed over to Best Buy to look around and to wear the kids out so they would fall asleep for the hour long drive home. That was an expensive look around. We ended up getting a Playstation 3 and a few games for Hubbs, a Sponge Bob game for the Wii that Monk Man wanted and the newest season on DVD of House for me.

Yesterday (Tuesday) Hubbs got the trampoline (that was sitting on the front porch for a week waiting for my neighbor) set up for us. Hooray! Monk Man and I bounced for the better part of an hour yesterday evening, until the mosquito's started eating me alive.

Today, I am just working. How freaking exciting.

I took a mental health day for tomorrow so I can spend it hanging out with Hubbs and the kids and preparing myself for Friday. Hopefully one of us will come up with something interesting (and cheap) to do. Otherwise we will be camped out in the living room in front of the TV all day. But that's okay too.

Friday is a big, scary, super stress day for me. Monk Man gets his ear tubes at 9:00 a.m. I know it really isn't a big deal and I am going to freak out about nothing but worrying is what I do best. (I think I have said that before?)

Plus, Hubbs is going back to Iowa again. That sucks too. I mean the money he is making is awesome and we are finally getting back on track with this debt elimination thing.

But

I really miss him and I hate that he has to leave again. He is having to miss out on so much.

So, keep me in your thoughts on Friday. I need all the good vibes I can get so I don't completely fall apart. Saturday I will update on how the surgery went and whether I maintained or not.

Holy Ear Infections Batman!

Monk Man went to the doctor this morning because I thought he had an ear infection again. I was right.

The doctor gave us a prescription for some more antibiotics and ear drops. Then he dropped the ball. The thing I have been dreading ever since Monk Man got his first ear infection.

Doc looked at me and said "I am pretty sure he is going to need ear tubes and he needs to see a specialist for that".

My heart dropped into my stomach and I tried my hardest not to cry.

Shit. Shit. Shit!

So I called the specialist this afternoon and got us an appointment for August 19th. At the time, I thought Hubbs would be back from Iowa. As it turns out, he wont be back until at least the 21st or somewhere around there.

Great. I have to take Monk Man alone.

I did some reading on WebMD about ear tubes and it is not as bad as I thought it was. I mean, it is still a big deal but I feel a little better.

It is him going under general anesthesia that I am worried about. I was only under anesthesia once (for a plastic surgery procedure) but that was enough to know that it was not something I wanted to go through again for a very long time.

The puking. The dream like feeling. The panic when it clicks that it is too late to change your mind. Realizing that you have little to no memory of anything that happened in the hours after the surgery. Not being in control.

That scares the hell out of me.

I really don't want to put him through a surgery so young. But what other choice do I have? I cant keep giving him antibiotics because sooner or later they will stop working. Plus people will look at him funny if I put him in a germ resistant bubble. And I cant handle letting him get another ear infection.

I am definitely going to do some more research to make sure there is no other option.

So if anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears.
